5. Open the Dream Gate: Jushin Thunder Lyger (22:11 Vertical Drop Brainbuster) Masaaki Mochizuki
*V1 for Lyger

MO'z took over the ring almost immediately. They explained the Naniwa Elimination rules to the fans, putting emphasis on the battle royal portion where a team would have a 1 man advantage for certain stretches. Typhoon came out now, with Mori on crutches. CIMA said since Mori was out, they were down 7-6 and that should give them the 1 person advantage position. They decided to draw a lot to see who would get the advantage. CIMA and Gamma were going to draw, but DKid insisted he get to, raising some suspicions as to whether he was the betrayer. Kid of course lost, so MO'z got the advantage.
Tozawa and Fujii were going after each other during match 3, leaving Kanda alone to fight a lone battle for most of the match. When Fujii did eventually tag in, Iwasa repeatedly took him down with cradle pin attempts until he finally pinned him. Tozawa-juku called beating the former Dream Gate champion their biggest win.
The entire match went by without a betrayal, making the atmosphere afterwards intense. Finally, Hulk attacked CIMA, seemingly to join MO'z. He sided over with them, but just as he did, CyKong attacked Gamma! Hulk and Kong shook hands. Hulk then said neither was betraying anyone, but they made the decision to unite, along with someone else....
Someone else being Shingo Takagi! Takagi joined up with Hulk and Kong, making a permanent return to Japan (after he finishes out his ROH commitments). Yamato Onodera will also join them, when he returns from the US. The new trio directly appealed to Typhoon for a Triangle Gate shot in the next Korakuen, which K-ness made official. Doi was incredibly angry at Shingo for this, because of their team in March. Shingo said their team was for only temporary and he never said he wanted to join MO'z. Doi demanded a tag match with someone from this new unit, so Doi/Yoshino vs. Yamato and a mystery partner from the US.
After all this, it's hard to remember that the Dream Gate was also on the line. Lyger of course won, then provoked then entire DG locker room yet again. CIMA, predictably, came out and made a direct appeal. Lyger laughed, calling him boy. He noted CIMA tapped out to Jado in the last Korakuen. CIMA will have to go through Jado to get his shot. Gamma complicated things after the show, also making a challenge to Lyger, since he is the supposed "ace".

Elsewhere...
There has been a curious change made to the announced Muscle Live tag. The former Genki/Gamma vs. Ryo/Susumu has been changed. NOAHs' Yoshinobu Kanemaru will be taking Gammas' place.
DG officially announced Ryos' trip to Europe from the end of April into May. He will be over to compete in the King of Europe and wXw 16 Carat tournaments. He will be off in DG from 4/29 through 5/7.

Genki went back on his promise of a clean fight, getting some help from Kinta and a few low blows. Kid will get a rematch in Nagoya next month.
Gamma accidentally hit Doi with protein, leading to the Jumbo no Kachi!. Doi was angry afterwards and left with Yoshino, possibly walking out of MO'z altogether. Gamma and Kishiwada commented later, saying they have a replacement in mind, possibly from outside DG.

Elsewhere, Dragon Kid will be replacing Mori for the 4/28 NOAH show. The match is now CIMA, Susumu, and DKid vs. Ricky Marvin, Naomichi Marufuji, and Ippei Ota.

13 Apr 2007 - () - El Dorado - 4/13 Treasure of Spring Breeze

4/13/2007 Tokyo, Shinjuku FACE
1. brother YASSHI, Milanito Collection a.t.{W} (11:14 a.t. Lock) Shuji Kondo, King Pocota{L}
2. Takuya Sugawara (12:08 Shiisanputa) Yosuke Aoki
3. Bear Fukuda, Jumping Kid Okimoto{W}, Noriaki Kawabata (15:30 German Suplex Hold) Takeshi Sato, Banana Senga, Mototsugu Shimizu{L}
4. brother YASSHI vs. Antonio Honda
1R- Microphone Battle: Honda (5:04 Mental Math) YASSHI
2R- Pro Wrestling Rules: YASSHI (16:35 Nice Jamaica) Honda
5. Takuya Sugawara{W}, Brahman Shu, Brahman Kei (18:03 Shiisanputa) Shuji Kondo, KAGETORA, Ken45{L}

The debut of the unit system era of El Dorado kicked off with yet another strange show. Kawabata called the 4 leaders out to the ring, saying even though the unit system was in place, none of them had made a move yet. Kondo replied by saying "Well, it wasn't going to start until today.". YASSHI mentioned that he had the Nanking team. Because of Owashis' injury, the original lineup had to be changed, and ended up being chosen at random. Kawabata himself even ended up in a match, later saying "It's part of my responsibility".
The opener was originally Kondo&Milanito vs. YASSHI&Pocota. Milanito however appealed to be a part of Kondos' unit. To test him, Kondo switched up the teams. If Milanito proved himself on the other side, he could join up. He passed by scoring the win, so Milanito is member #1 for Kondo.
Match 3 might top SITE KOBE for most bizarre event of the week. Kawabata did indeed participate in the match, wearing a full suit. He never tagged in, of course, making it a 3 on 2 handicap match. Afterwards, he demanded that the other 5 members in the match stay in the ring. Sato ignored him completely, and left. Kawabata called the remaining 4 candidates for restructuring. This angered Shimizu greatly, and he stormed out of the ring. This brought out Owashi. Kawabata actually insulted Owashi for getting hurt, saying that because of his injury, the card had to be changed, and he should be banished because he was not in a unit yet, despite being a leader. Owashi was speechless, until Bear stepped up and appealed to join. Owashi agreed, but Bear put a condition on it. Owashi had to wear his giant tiger sweatshirt, that Bear has adorned on the last few Dorado shows. Banana then asked Owashi if he could join. Owashi mocked his name and entrance music. Banana will have to change his name and theme on the next show, and Owashi will consider him again then.
The 2 best talkers in Japan, Honda and YASSHI, entered to have their singles match. Honda however first proposed a talk battle. It went back and forth, until Honda asked YASSHI what 56+38 was. YASSHI couldn't answer in time, so the talk portion went to Honda. After YASSHI took the wrestling rules half, he said next time he would sweep both. Honda was more conciliatory, saying that he considered the 2 of them friends now. They hugged and left.
The Kondo side never really got it together for the main. There were long stretches where Ken fought alone, and in the end KAGE and Kondo exchanged friendly fire with each other, leaving Ken to be pinned. KAGE was furious at Ken afterwards, but Kondo held him off. Kondo recruited Ken to his unit.
Sugawara jumped at this opening and invited KAGETORA to his unit, noting their history.
YASSHI and Owashi intruded now. YASSHI went first. He said that Kages' real name was Hashimoto, so he would be a great fit with Tsujimoto, Okimoto, and Hinomoto. Owashi then said that his unit already had an Eagle (Himself), a Bear (Fukuda). He invited Kage to join as their tiger, and perhaps they could form a zoo unit.....Kage left in silence.
Honda however returned to the ring, surprisingly. He asked Kondo if he could join his unit. Kondo asked if he was joking, but Honda assured him he was erious. Kondo accepted him, as their chat machine.

So, the unit situation in Dorado after day 1 looks like this:

Kondo, Ken, Milanito, Honda
Owashi, Fukuda
YASSHI, Okimoto, Hino
Sugawara, Shu, Kei

KAGETORA, Senga, Shimizu, Sato, Aoki remain without a unit.

09 Apr 2007 - () - Dragon Gate - More on Magnum.

Magnum himself spoke a bit about his health, and his resignation.
He hopes to reset everything now. His health has been in decline since his final UDG title defense in 2003. He considered retirement then. Long time fans will remember the long term absence in 2004, after he lost the title. Magnum admitted that he was cheating fate by continuing in his condition. He was in the front office since Dragon Gate began, but during this absence he chose to stay away completely, to focus on resting. His eye injury was the turning point. He was experiencing numbness in other parts of his body. Every time he would begin to recover, there would be setbacks. He hoped to return with a new look, one that was actually in shape. But it was becoming obvious to him that he had reached his limit. Starting in Toryumon, ending in Dragon Gate he was Mr. Egoist until the very end. From here his future is a blank page, and he hopes to experience new challenges in the future.

*Typhoon fail in V2, MO'z become the 12th champions

It was an odd night in Kobe.
Tozawa and Ono seemed to reconcile after their match. They both thanked each other.
Not a typo on the opener finish. Genki won without the usual low blow assisted backslide. He promised a clean fight with Kid for the Brave Gate, then shook his hand. Yoshino seemed to take exception to this.
Kong admitted his defeat to Hulk, and the 2 of them shook hands. Yoshino was again miffed.
Gamma, seemingly inspired by Genkis' actions in the first match, asked Yagi to take over for Kinta as referee in the main. Doi and Yoshino were both disgusted by this. Gamma fought clean, as well. He pinned CIMA clean, then they all shook hands, with another Triangle Gate match proposed for this coming week.

The big news out of the event however, is the official resignation of Magnum TOKYO. This really shouldn't come as a shock to anyone who has been paying attention over the last few months. Magu apparently was in poor health, in addition to his eye injury from August, so he was considering retirement. In the end, it was decided that he would resign. He is looking at his future as a blank page.
