31 May 2007 - () - El Dorado - Soul Connection 5/31

5/31/2007 Tokyo, Shinjuku FACE~Kasu Ichi 3
1. Naoki Tanizaki{W}, Bear Fukuda (10:43 Casanova) Takeshi Minaminno, Masa Takanashi{L}
2. Brahman Kei (8:30 Zombie Virus Infection) Lingerie Muta

4. brother YASSHI{W}, Shiro Koshinaka (13:45 Power Bomb) Touru Owashi, Hercules Osenga{L}
6. Dick Togo (13:45 Diving Senton) SUWATORA

SUWATORA obviously is KAGETORA. Kage had appealed for SUWA to return for one more match in Japan in the Kasu Ichi ring, but SUWA flat out denied him. SUWA asked Kage to carry on his will and become a top wrestler. Kage was of course Suwacito back in the Toryumon X days.

3. Touru Owashi vs. Masaki Okimoto
4. Shuji Kondo, Antonio Honda, Takeshi Sato vs. Takuya Sugawara, Brahman Shu, Brahman Kei
5. Naoki Tanizaki vs. KAGETORA

Naoki asked for this match after KAGE appealed for a partnership.
Other potential out of this show is unit names for Owashi and Kondos' team, and a new costume from Kondo.
Regarding the new name for the former Banana Senga, he has been referred to as both "Oosenga" and Ookabuto". I'm going to go with -senga for now. Kabuto means Beetle, which makes him a Hercules Beetle....fitting with the Owashi Animal Unit theme.

25 May 2007 - () - Dragon Gate - Jado Injured

New Japans' Jado has gone down with a hip injury which is forcing him out of action. This will obviously affect his match with CIMA on 6/10, but no announcement has been made.

25 May 2007 - () - Dragon Gate - New title, Stalker name change

Fresh off his debut in the US, Stalker has decided to change his ringname again. From here on he will be known as "Hollywood" Stalker Ichikawa.
Also while in America, a new title concept was thought up. The Open the Comedy Gate. Naturally Stalker is the first champion. He is promising something big at World, possibly over the name Hollywood.................

23 May 2007 - () - Site

I know this has been obvious for a while now, but going forward I will no longer be covering the Ultimo Dragon Gym/Wrestling Academy and Toryumon Mexico activity. If the shows in Japan change their focus to solely the Gym students then I may cover them. Similarly, if a full time project were to pop up, then I will decide at that time.

The Toryumon section will be kept as an archive, but will not be updated.

23 May 2007 - () - Dragon Gate - Tozawa-juku in 666

Don't know how I missed this (well, I do, but..you know), but Tozawa and Araken participated on the 5/20 666 convention in Katsura Studio. They were the mystery partners for Naoshi Sano vs. Ram Kaichou, Jaki Numazawa, and Sempai. The match didn't end well for anyone, as Sempai went crazy on drugs and shot everyone to death, except Ram, who was announced the winner. I wanted to add something clever, but it speaks for itself.

IWRG and DG will have a working agreement from here on. NEX players will travel there for extended expeditions, and more IWRG players will hit the DG mat.

New Japan announced the pairings for the Best of the Super Junior league. Here is Hulks' schedule. Hulk will obviously miss the DG shows scheduled for the same day. This also throws the Tozawa-juku vs. New Hazard 8 man tag for SITE KOBE out the window, unless Evans is replacing him.

12 May 2007 - () - Muscle Outlaw'z - 5/12 Muscle Live Vol 1

5/12/2007 Tokyo, Shinjuku FACE~Muscle Live vol 1
1. Genki Horiguchi{W}, Yoshinobu Kanemaru (13:49 Backslide from Hell with Kinta High Speed Count) Ryo Saito{L}, Susumu Yokosuka
2. Magnitude Kishiwada (15:03 Last Ride) Hi69
3. Dragon Gate Maximum Weakest 3 Way~Akira Tozawa vs. Dr. Muscle vs. Stalker Ichikawa
-Tozawa (6:50 Tozawa-juku Hiden: Iwaki) Muscle
-Muscle (9:36 La Magistral Cutback) Stalker
4. Gamma, Kinta Tomoaka{W} (15:06 Styles Clash) CIMA, Tatsunori Ohya{L}
5. Ricky Marvin, Kotaro Suzuki{W} (27:09 Blue Destiny) Naruki Doi{L}, Masato Yoshino

Naturally Ichikawa was not going to actually have to divorce. In a rather unfortunate turn of events, the rules were misinterpreted at the time that the match was named. Since it was "Hair contra Mask contra Divorce", by losing Icihkawa lost the right to ever get divorced. If it were Mask contra Hair vs. Marriage he would have lost his wife. How Dr. Muscle got away with his mask I have no idea. Despite being the only one to not take a fall in the 3 way, Tozawa still somehow lost his hair.

After ending up on the losing side today, CIMA had another roadblock thrown in his path to the Dream Gate. If he gets by Jado on 6/10, he will then have to go through Gamma on 6/16 in Osaka. The winner there goes on to World and Lyger. In addition, he will have to team with Gamma in the upcoming Korakuen, vs. Lyger and X. Incidentally, the referee match is getting some of the better reviews out of the show.

Magnitude Kishiwada joined the GPWA alliance yesterday. How this will affect his DG participation, if at all, isn't known.

Iwasa and Araken laid out a challenge for the GHC Jr Tag after the show.

11 May 2007 - () - 5/11 - A Milestone

Today is May 11th, 2007. It was 10 years ago today that the first products of the Ultimo Dragon Gym made their debut in Mexico. Nobuhiko Oshima, Katsumasa Kuroki, Tatsuki Fujii, and Takahiro Suwa wrestled each other in Arena Naucalpan, starting the Toryumon era. They were followed by Dragon Kid in November, completing the 1st Term. Amazing to think so much time has passed.

Congratulations on the 10 year anniversary, and here's to 10 more.

Dominant first Korakuen for NH. Evans betrayed MO'z after barely 1 tour with them. He has joined up with NH as a member.
Mochi, to no surprise, has called out New Japans' Koji Kanemoto to face him at World. Fujii has challenged Tetsuhiro Kuroda...for some reason.
Tozawa, Ichikawa, and Dr. Muscle will be able to compete at World, after winning today.
Now that there are again 3 strong units, the famous 3 way 6 man tag match will be making a return. 2 have been scheduled for the early June series, although neither is a title match as initially thought. NH will not defend the Triangle until World, where they will face a MO'z team.

3. Tozawa (7:46 Tozawa-juku Hiden: Ganki) Shisa BOY
4. YAMATO{W}, Cyber Kong (13:58 Hidalgo) m.c.KZ, Lupin Matsutani{L}

YAMATO introduced himself to the NEX fans. He then called out the other NEX members. He accused them of letting NEX grow stagnant, and said there was no growth done amongst any of them. He called Katsuo the Class A criminal of the group. YAMATO challenged Katsuo, Tozawa, Lupin, BOY, and KZ to singles matches. If he defeats all 5 of them, the NEX project will end.

New moves today, the Ganki is a running double knee attack into pinning predicament, if you have seen any of the NEX digests you have seen it. The Hidalgo is a Death Valley Bomb into facebuster of some sort.

Outside of NEX, Mochi has stated that he will call out the person he wants to face at World at Korakuen tomorrow night.

YAMATO has crazy hair and red short tights now. The logo is NH in white, with a red slash in N, and tribal designs around the letters.

The complete 5/10 Korakuen card is as follows.

5/10/2007 Tokyo, Korakuen Hall
1. Genki Horiguchi, Magnitude Kishiwada, Gamma vs. Yasushi Kanda, Masaaki Mochizuki, Don Fujiii

Tozawa-juku demanded a full confrontation with New Hazard, so an 8 man was made for the next SITE KOBE. I get the feeling we will have to keep an eye on Katsuo in this match.

07 May 2007 - () - Dragon Gate - 5/10 Change, New Unit Name, Wrestle JAM 2

The Taku Iwasa, Keni'chiro Arai vs. Dragon Kid, Onryo tag for 5/10 has been modified a bit. Inspired by the elimination match the other day, Kid appealed for K-ness to join up. K-ness agreed, so it is now a 6 man. Who will be joining up on the Tozawajuku side isn't announced yet.

YAMATO returns home tonight, putting the roster at near full strength for the first time since Shingo departed for the US last year. The New Generation unit will be getting its name tonight in SITE KOBE. The road to World will then truly begin.

After World of course will be Wrestle JAM 2. From 7/15~7/22, the tour will be increasing in size and scope, adding Europe to its map. Check the schedule section for the related venues. The first list of participating players was announced today.

Japan: All of Dragon Gate
America: Austin Aries, Jack Evans, Matt Sydal, Delirious, Jimmy Rave, El Generico, Cyber Gang, Bobby Cruise (Ring Announcer)
Mexico: The Turboman
England: PAC

More will be announced as we get closer.

06 May 2007 - () - Dragon Gate - Ryo Saitos' European Vacation

Ryo spent the last 2 weeks in Europe, competing in 2 tournaments. The first was the King of Europe tournament in the UK. Ryo defeated Jody Fleisch (at one time of Michinoku Pro semi-fame) in the first round, but was defeated by fellow Typhoon member Sydal in the next.
This past weekend was the wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament in Germany. Ryo again found success in round 1, getting revenge on Sydal with the Premium Bridge. He lost to eventual winner Chris Hero in round 2, though. The 3rd night saw Ryo team with Sydal to defeat Claudio Castagnoli and Emil Sitoci, Sydal via Shooting Sydal Press on Claude.
Ryo returns home this week, in time for Korakuen.

Ohya vs. Kinta has been brewing for a few months now. Both referees were aspiring wrestlers who had to turn to become officials due to injury.

The first match for World was announced, sort of. Kanda will be granted a shot at Genki and the Brave Gate. However, he has between now and the lead up week to World to drop weight to the 82kg requirement. If he can't, he forfeits. K-ness will be the referee for the match, since he was one who created the Brave Gate concept.
